November 13, 2009 Health Behavior News Service report on major U.S. Veterans Administration study regarding serious mental illness and severely heightened risk for heart disease confirms widespread interactions between mental health and medical health.
85% of Americans recognize schizophrenia as an illness, yet only 24% are familiar with it. 64% cannot recognize symptoms or mistakenly believe symptoms include "split" or multiple personalities.
